Singapore

After exciting time in Australia Barbara and I were heading for Singapore. Some medical friends in Sydney organized for us an accommodation in a Medical Center. We landed in Singapore quite late  and took a taxi at the airport. Unfortunately, the driver had no idea where the Center was, but worse, he couldn't speak any English. We were pretty tired, also we were not prepared to pay extra fee for his incompetence. Barbara had an idea - let's go to any hospital and ask English speaking staff to guide us to our destination. When we reached a hospital Barbara stayed with the driver while I took a beeline to A&E. Looking distressed I shouted if anybody there spoke English. One nurse offered help. I asked her about the Center, she knew where it was so I took her to the driver to give him valuable instructions. After this initial stress we had a fantastic time in the following few days.

Taking off to India - the sight of the shanty town near the Singapore airport horrified me. I had no idea that in India there will be even more gruesome sights
